Annual General Meeting of Matale Old Thomians' Association - Colombo Branch Held Successfully
On Saturday, July 13, 2024, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Matale Old Thomians’ Association – Colombo Branch was held successfully at the Grand Oriental Hotel, Colombo-01, commencing at 9.30 am.
The event was graced by Mr. Anura Dissanayake, Secretary to the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, as the Honoured Guest. In a significant highlight of the AGM, Old Thomians Rear Admiral Pradeep Rathnayake, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy, and Air Vice Marshal Palinda Koswatta, Deputy Chief of Staff – Air Force (Retired), were felicitated for their remarkable achievements in their fields.
The members of the Executive Committee, led by Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake of MOTA-Colombo, also honoured the personalities who supported the 150th Anniversary of the school, including Mr. Kenneth De Silva, who composed the Anniversary Song, along with the editor, Mr. Aravinda Hewage. The MOTA Colombo Team also felicitated other stakeholders, including Principal Dhammika Hewawasam, Past President, Secretary, and Treasurer of the Mother OBA, Kandy OBA, Patron, and the entire ex-Co team. The AGM provided an opportunity to celebrate the association’s members’ accomplishments and discuss plans and initiatives.
Matale Old Thomians’ Association (Colombo) remains committed to fostering a strong community among its members and looks forward to continued success. Mr. Sumith Halvitiege was elected as the new president of MOTA Colombo, and Mr. Lalith Karunadasa as the Hony. Secretary.
